Uncle Gabe Bartleman Bursary

The Uncle Gabe Bartleman Bursary was established in honor of our late uncle who believed in Education and the well-being of our Saanich People. This bursary was established in 2002 by the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board and awarded to a Saanich Student, by the Personnel Committee in memory of Gabe.

Criteria

The bursary will be awarded to one full-time post-secondary student who is enrolled in the academic year from the SȾÁUTW̱, Tsartlip, BOḰEĆEN or Tseycum Nations and will have demonstrated commitment to Community, Leadership and Volunteer work.

The application must include the following:

  • Cover letter including work involved in community, leadership roles, activities and volunteer experience
  • Letters of Reference (1 personal and 2 professional)
  • Resume
  • Current transcript of academic standing

The applications are reviewed by a member of Gabe Bartleman family, or they choose an alternate as well as members of the Personnel Committee.

Please note only completed packages will be reviewed. The amount of the bursary is $500.00 and eligible students may apply each year even if they have previously applied and were successful recipients.

Consideration is given to all applicants, however only the successful applicant will be contacted.
