Supported by the SȾÁSEN TŦE SENĆOŦEN Department, W̱SB has been leading language revitalization efforts across its schools. The immersion program, SENĆOŦEN LENOṈET SCUL¸ÁUTW̱ (SENĆOŦEN Survival School), is currently offered through the ȽÁU, WELṈEW̱ Tribal School and the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Secondary School (W̱LSS).

OUR PROGRAMS

Preschool – Grade 3
Immersion

ȽTS

This program offers a full SENĆOŦEN immersion experience — EWENE W̱ENITEM ḴEN SḰÁL

Children ages 3–5 begin learning SENĆOŦEN through daily circle time, outdoor play, and exploration in both playgrounds and forest settings. We encourage families to start their child’s SENĆOŦEN immersion journey at this early stage to build a strong foundation in the language.

Grade 4 – 6
Bilingual

ȽTS

For children in Grades 4–6, our program meets the Ministry’s Prescribed Learning Outcomes for the provincial curriculum, taught through a combination of SENĆOŦEN and English instruction.

Each day, students also spend 2.5 hours learning outdoors, engaging with nature in the playgrounds, forests, beaches, and other culturally significant places near our school.

Grade 7 – 12
Bilingual

W̱LSS

For students in Grades 7–12, our program meets all Ministry Prescribed Learning Outcomes for the provincial curriculum, delivered through a combined SENĆOŦEN and English language approach.

Each day, students also spend 2.5 hours learning in natural environments, including the playgrounds, forests, beaches, and other culturally significant locations in and around the school.

The Story Behind LENOṈET SCUL¸ÁUTW̱

This interactive presentation is a collaboration of our STÁ,SEN TTE SENĆOŦEN team. In creating this poster project, we wanted to capture and share what is emerging with our SCÁ LTE (our work). Our STÁ,SEN TTE SENĆOŦEN mission and vision reflects hope and determination for growing SENĆOŦEN capacity. The long-term purpose of our SCÁ lies in beginning and sustaining SENĆOŦEN immersion programming at all levels of our school and community.
