About W̱LSS
W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Secondary School (W̱LSS) promotes an educational vision in service to children, families and communities of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nations and all students and families who choose to learn with us. Our role is to ensure the continued immersion of all learners in W̱SÁNEĆ culture and SENĆOŦEN language within a strong and leading education system for all students grades 7 – 12.
We are committed to providing learners the knowledge, skills and emotional capacity to progress through their learning goals and aspirations with dignity, purpose and options in order to embrace the full spectrum of life opportunities based on setting high expectations and modelling the belief that every student can be successful.
W̱LSS is a bilingual school offering education programs in both SENĆOŦEN language and English language mediums. Our school provides a range of courses for grades 7 – 12 leading to the BC graduation program (Dogwood Diploma). As a school family, we are committed to providing a full range of educational programs and unique services to meet the diverse needs of every learner.
Grounded in community connections and a ‘collective responsibility’, students experience a full-time instructional program, SENĆOŦEN language and culture, access to technology and equipment, outdoor education, hot lunch program, diverse learning supports, daily protocol and cultural connections, access to counselling and health services, learning incentives and a variety of school spirit activities and special events.
WELCOME
W̱LSS currently serves students grades 7 – 12, primarily from the four W̱SÁNEĆ communities of BOḰEĆEN, SȾÁUTW̱, W̱JOȽEȽP, W̱SÍKEM and surrounding territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. Our school has undergone expansion to increase learning opportunities for students, these include three new classrooms, Learning Services hub, Foods Lab, Carving Studio and Fine Arts rooms.
